Progress Bars ("we," "our," or "the app") is a web application that helps Strava athletes track their fitness goals by automatically updating activity descriptions with progress information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about the data we collect and how we use it.
Key Privacy Commitments:
- We do not store your full name
- We do not store location information (just time zone)
- We do not store your email address or any contact information
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes
- We only access the minimum Strava data necessary to provide our service
Information We Collect
From Strava Authentication
When you connect your Strava account, we receive and store:

From Your Strava Activities

- Duration (for time-based goals)
- Activity ID
We do not access or store:
- GPS or location data (except your profile's listed location to determine time zone)
- Route maps
- Heart rate or other sensor data
- Photos
- Comments or kudos
- Your followers or following lists
Information You Provide
When you create goals in our app, we store:
- Goal type (mileage or time)
- Target value (e.g., 3000 miles, 70 hours)
- Activity type the goal applies to
- Start and end dates
- Activity filters (e.g., whether virtual rides count)
How We Use Your Information
We use your data solely to:
- Track your goal progress — Calculate how far ahead or behind you are relative to your goals
- Update activity descriptions — Automatically add progress information to qualifying Strava activities
- Display your dashboard — Show your current goals and progress within our app
- Maintain your session — Keep you logged in and connected to Strava
We do not use your data for:
- Advertising or marketing
- Profiling or behavioral analysis
- Sale to third parties
- Any purpose unrelated to goal tracking
Data Sharing
We share data only with:

Data Retention
- Account data and goals: Retained while your account is active
- OAuth tokens: Retained until you disconnect your Strava account or revoke access
- Activity data: We do not permanently store activity details; we query Strava in real-time when calculating progress
Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon deletion:
- All stored goals are permanently removed
- All OAuth tokens are revoked and deleted
- Your Strava Athlete ID association is removed from our database
You may also revoke access at any time through your Strava Settings (strava.com/settings/apps).
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your data:
- All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption
- OAuth tokens are stored securely and never exposed in client-side code
- Database access is restricted and protected
- We follow Strava's API security guidelines
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — View what data we have stored about you
- Delete — Remove your account and all associated data
- Revoke — Disconnect Strava access at any time
- Export — Request a copy of your stored goals

Our app relies on:

Progress Bars is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
